Claritin-D : Allergy
Claritin-D is an antihistamine used
to treat the symptoms of hay fever and other allergic conditions
such as watery eyes, runny nose (rhinitis), itching eyes, and sneezing.
Claritin-D may also be used to treat hives.
Claritin-D Uses:
This medicine is used to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergies
and hives in adults and children 12 years of age and older.
How To Use Claritin-D :
How much medicine you take and how often you take
it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated,
your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount
and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your
health care provider. Do not take alcohol and medicines that cause
drowsiness (eg, narcotics, tranquilizers, antihistamines) while
taking this medicine. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking
with your doctor. Patients with previous medical conditions should
talk with their health care provider before taking this medicine.
Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so
by your doctor or health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter
or prescription medicines without talking with your doctor.
Claritin-D Possible Side Effects:
Every medicine can cause side effects, but many people have no,
or minor, side effects. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if any of
the following occurs: Headache; tiredness; dry mouth.
Claritin-D Interaction:
Due to pseudoephedrine (the decongestant in Claritin-D ® 12
Hour tablets and many over-the-counter allergy medications), you
should not take Claritin-D ® 12 Hour if you are taking MAO inhibitors
(certain prescription drugs that treat depression). You shouldn't
take Claritin-D ® 12 Hour with any other antihistamines and
decongestants, as too much pseudoephedrine sulfate can cause nervousness,
sleeplessness, dizziness, and other related side affects.
Claritin-D Precautions:
Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about
any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant,
or breastfeeding; if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription
medicine; if you have any other medical condition.
Claritin-D Missed Dose:
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours
have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double
the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than
one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Claritin-D Storage:
Store between 36 and 86 degrees F.
